The Atlantic has always been the magazine of “well read people.” What’s fascinating in this profile is their recipe for saving a 150+ year old company. In my opinion, it’s about how they defined themselves – instead of saying “we are a Magazine” or “we are a Newspaper,” they simply said “we are a media company and must go where the eyeballs are.” They scrapped the differences between print and web, and turned it into one platform years ago before Time and the New York Times did so.
