BankSimple is one of the most intriguing startups I’ve seen recently. Basically, it’s a bank that’s run like a startup. The closest thing I can see to it is USAA. Everyone hates their bank. They plan on providing great customer service, excellent usability, and don’t plan on making money on fees, only the old fashioned way of lending out money at a higher rate than they are paying out to savers.

Many posts on this site are a macro level “how did this company work,” but sometimes it’s fascinating to dive into the very micro-level aspects of a company. In this post, BankSimple gives a behind the scenes look at their website refresh (which is beautiful by the way!) and how they did some of the things on there.

It may just be a website, but for most companies it’s also the customer’s first glimpse into your business. It’s very important.
